Chris has been involved in outdoor recreation and environmental conservation since 2001, working with organizations such as Edisto River Canoe & Kayak Trail Commission, S.C. Wildlife Federation, Sierra Club and S.C. Environmental Justice Network. As Chapter Chair of the S.C. Sierra Clulb, he was instrumental to bringing the Ready for 100 program to the state. A graduate of Colorado State University, he received a Batchelor’s Degree in Business Management with a minor in Public and Nonproift Management. He enjoys photographing and writing about his adventures and currently lives in Aiken, SC.

Charles is a community organizer and Environmental Justice Coordinator for the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League. His work on Environmental Justice includes serving on Advisory Committee to President Clinton and presenting before the United States Congress on Environmental Justice issues concerning contamination in Hyde Park. A graduate of Paine College, he received a Master’s in Counseling and Education at South Carolina State University. Currently, he serves as an advisor to Paine College’s Environmental Justice Students in Community Relations. He is the Chairman and founder of the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) Richmond County Brownfields Commission., Augusta, GA. A Vietnam era veteran, Charles is the Pastor of McElmurray Spring Baptist Church, Waynesboro, GA. He is married to Brenda and has two children, Demetria and Anthony.

Carl has taught in Africa, completed graduate work on Bald Eagles on the Mississippi River, and aquatic ecology on the Savanah river examining the impact of reactor discharge on aquatic plants. He currently teaches ecology, anatomy and research at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet school in Augusta.

Moira Nonnweiler, a community activist, is a retired teacher, working for equitable and sustainable solutions to climate change. Ms. Nonnweiler has worked on environmental solutions through community activism for more than 30 years. She has served as an executive board member on two community organizations. In 1990, she served as the College Campus Coordinator for 11 campuses in California, rallying students and professors for Earth Day 1990. More recently, Ms. Nonnweiler has been active with the Sierra Club, SustainableCSRA.org and IFFA (Interfaith Fellowship of Augusta). Ms. Nonnweiler’s professional career includes working with NSF and NIH budgets for College research grants, working in biotechnology as a Project Administrator for 18 years. Ms Nonnweiler has her BS in Business and Management, MS in Education and Teaching Credential in Special Education and certifications in Hazardous Materials Management and Web development.
